A Songscription alternative with sheet music and DAW-ready MIDI

Songscription turns audio into sheet music for many instruments, with a sheet music editor and link import from video sites. Midify does the sheet music too, every part of a song from one upload, and the same transcription comes out as producer-ready MIDI with stems and a tempo map.

Where each one is better

Songscription does better

  • More instruments, including violin, flute, trumpet and saxophone.
  • Guitar Pro export.
  • Import from YouTube, Instagram and TikTok links.
  • Transcriptions up to 15 minutes long on its paid plans, and an Enterprise plan with an API.

Midify does better

  • The same upload gives multi-track MIDI for a DAW, with a tempo map, quantize and separated stems.
  • The free plan transcribes full-length songs (3 a month) to view and edit in the browser.
  • Notes the transcription was unsure of are marked, and one key jumps to the next.
  • Drum parts come out as notation and as General MIDI.

Songscription alternative: questions people ask

Is Songscription free?

Songscription has a free plan with 30-second transcriptions and no downloads. Its Plus and Pro plans allow transcriptions up to 15 minutes, with 60 and 300 minutes of transcription a month.

Can Midify import a YouTube link like Songscription?

No. Upload an audio or video file you have the rights to use, such as your own recording or a video you downloaded from your own channel.

Does Midify export Guitar Pro files?

Not yet. Download MusicXML, which Guitar Pro can import; a native Guitar Pro export is planned.

Which is better for producers?

If you work in a DAW, Midify gives you the MIDI as well as the score: one track per instrument, a detected tempo map, quantize and velocities from the audio, from the same upload.
